Jeju-do is the premier tourist destination in Korea because of the stunning natural scenery and superior tourist amenities. Scenic beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves lie in harmony, and the mild weather makes Jeju-do an even more ideal tourist destination. Mt. Hallasan in Jeju-do has flora and fauna of both temperate and tropical varieties, coexisting on the mountain. The Jungmun Tourist Complex is a comprehensive tourist resort and provides top-quality accommodations and tourist facilities. Popular Cities Bukjeju is located on the western part of the island and is famous for its clear waters and clean beaches. Hyeopjae Beach and Hamdeok Beach are famous. Hyeopjae Beach is particularly famous for its shimmering silvery appearance due to the countless clamshells blending with the sand.
Manjanggul Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, and is a designated natural monument. A lava tunnel is formed when the lava that was deep in the ground spouts from the peak and flows to the surface. Manjanggul Cave has a variety of interesting structures inside including 70cm lava stalagmites and the lava tube tunnels. Seongpanak is one of the parasitic volcanos on Jeju-do island. Parasitic volcanos are smaller volcanos formed by the erupted lava on the edge of the volcano, and there are over 350 on Jeju-do Island. Seongpanak is 1,215m high and situated between Jocheon-eup, Bukjeju-gun and Namwon-eup, Namjeju-gun. The name came from the shape of the vertical cliff spreading out about 500 meters like a fortress (seong) made of wooden boards (pan).
Namjeju is located on the eastern part of the island and is famous for its beaches and Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak which has a large crater atop a dormant volcano, and in the spring, the peak comes alive with yuchae flower. Other attractions include Seongeup Folk Village, Seopjikoji Coast, and Udo Island.
Jeju Sculpture Park, opened in October 1987, is located in a primeval forest. It is a multi-purpose art center exhibiting 160 sculptures. In the park, you can feel the traditional beauty of Jejugo Island even from the entrance where a Hagyul tangerine tree was planted in 1970. In the main entrance, there is a triangle shape tower, which is a symbol of this park, and the reflections from the glass that you see changes depending on your position and the weather. Seongeup Folk Village Located at the foot of Mt. Halla, Seongeup Folk Village has perfectly preserved Korean tradition. With its vast amount of cultural property, this place is designated as a Folk Village.
